Autism Program in Tinton Falls, NJ
Our Autism and Developmental Assessment Program focuses on assessment of autism spectrum disorders and developmental delays. We provide comprehensive evaluations that include the “gold standard” in autism assessment, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2). Depending on the referral question, we also administer tests that assess cognitive ability (IQ), neurocognitive functioning (e.g. attention, concentration, processing, memory, and learning), psychological/emotional difficulties, and academic achievement. The assessment provides clarity regarding diagnosis as well as information pertaining to the child’s strengths and weaknesses. Results of this assessment are then used to make recommendations for treatment planning, IEP development, and other interventions (speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, social skills training, medication management, etc.).
Assessment and diagnosis are often the first step to understanding and addressing the child’s needs and assisting in developing comprehensive intervention and connection with available resources.
